Helical Pile

Helical piles are a steel screw-in piling and ground anchoring technology used for constructing deep foundations. They are also known as screw-piles, screw piers, screw anchors, screw foundations, ground screws, helical piles, or helical anchors. High-strength steel is commonly used to make screw piles, and various-sized tubular hollow sections are used for the pile or anchor shaft.

The load of a structure is transferred into the pile by the helical pile shaft. To the pile shaft, helical steel plates are weld according to the desired ground conditions. Helices can be flat plates that are simply welded to the shaft of the pile at a specific pitch, or they can be press-formed to a specific pitch. The applied load, geotechnical parameters, the freezing zone, the water level, the number of helices, their diameters, and location on the pile shaft are all factors that affect steel plate thickness and helical pile length.
